Herpes-virus infections
Herpesviruses (Herpesviridae) are a large family of DNA viruses responsible for a variety of infections, ranging from mild mucocutaneous lesions to severe systemic and neurological diseases. Key human herpesviruses include Herpes Simplex Virus types 1 and 2 (HSV-1/2), Varicella-Zoster Virus (VZV), Cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6), Human Herpesvirus 7 (HHV-7), and Human Herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8). Accurate detection is critical for diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring.
Herpesvirus PCR kits based on real-time PCR technology provide sensitive and specific detection of herpesvirus DNA in clinical samples such as blood, cerebrospinal fluid, and swabs. These molecular diagnostics tools deliver accurate and reproducible results in routine and specialized laboratory workflows. Available in research use only (RUO) formats and optionally in CE IVD-marked versions, these PCR assays support a wide range of applications including neurological infection diagnosis from clinical samples, transplant patient monitoring, and epidemiological studies.
Several Herpes-virus pathogens are part of TORCH group. Please find selected assays which can be used in relation to significant risks during pregnancy also in the specific TORCH category together with other non-Herpes-virus pathogens.
