Human cytomegalovirus (CMV)
Human Cytomegalovirus (CMV or HCMV) is a widespread herpesvirus that remains latent in the body and can reactivate, especially in immunocompromised individuals. CMV is a major cause of complications in transplant recipients and congenital infections in newborns. Accurate and sensitive detection is essential for monitoring, diagnosis, and treatment decisions.
CMV PCR kits based on real-time PCR technology provide a specific and sensitive method for detecting CMV DNA in human samples. These molecular diagnostics tools offer accurate and reproducible results in routine and specialized laboratory workflows. Available in research use only (RUO) formats and optionally in CE IVD-marked version, these PCR assays support a wide range of applications including viral load monitoring from clinical samples, prenatal screening, and transplant patient management.
CMV as well as some other Herpes-virus pathogens are part of TORCH group. Please find selected CMV assays which can be used in relation to significant risks during pregnancy also in the specific TORCH category together with other non-Herpes-virus pathogens.
