Hepatitis G virus (HGV)
Hepatitis G Virus (HGV), also known as GB Virus C (GBV-C) or as human pegivirus (HPgV), is an RNA virus from the Flaviviridae family. While not clearly associated with liver disease, HGV is often found in individuals co-infected with other bloodborne viruses such as HIV or HCV. Its detection is relevant in epidemiological studies and in monitoring transfusion-transmissible infections.
HGV PCR kits based on real-time PCR technology provide a sensitive and specific method for detecting HGV RNA in human samples. These molecular diagnostics tools ensure accurate and reproducible results in routine and specialized laboratory workflows. Available in research use only (RUO) format and optionally in CE IVD-marked version, these PCR assays support applications such as screening from clinical samples, co-infection studies, and virology research.
